For 11 years, Anaya knew only the walls of an institutional home in India. She was just three years old when she arrived — orphaned, with no one to visit her, no one to advocate for her. As she grew up in the institution, she became a determined teenager who ran races, played volleyball, and loved learning the Marathi language. But something was always missing. Anaya's greatest hope in life was a family to call her own.
Because of For Every Orphan's generous donors and our partners in India, that hope became reality!
From its very onset, our Indian partners walked this journey with Anaya. When the Deshmukh family applied to become her foster parents, our partners spent months getting to know them. They ensured that all proper home studies were completed, and they conducted orientation visits and readiness assessments to be sure that the Deshmukhs were truly ready to welcome a child into their hearts and home. During the same period of time, our partners walked alongside Anaya—through counseling sessions, conversations about safety, and gentle preparation for a realistic picture of family life.
Slowly, something beautiful happened. In April, Anaya moved in with the Deshmukhs as their foster daughter. She was encouraged, and began to imagine a future with real possibilities — she is now dreaming of becoming a nurse!
Thank God with us for providing a loving, caring family for Anaya! Let's ask God that Anaya's new family would solidly support her choice of a nursing career, and that she would find a place to study at a reasonable cost. Pray also that Anaya will have the skills, abilities, determination, and stamina to realize her dream of becoming a nurse. Please pray that Anaya's future would truly be a full life with many opportunities!
No situations like Anaya's happen by themselves. One of the foremost things, of course, is the desire, commitment and patience of the waiting families. In addition, foster and adoption placement takes patient, coordinated care from our partners, child welfare agencies, and local child protection officials — as well as prayers and gifts from people like you.
Thank you for standing with Anaya! We pray that many more "Anayas" would find loving , forever homes very soon.
