Miles of Smiles
Move with purpose for children and families.
Walk. Run. Ride. Restore hope.
Honoring the Legacy of Micala Siler
Some lives leave a mark far beyond their years.
Micala was one of those lives.
She carried joy that was contagious, compassion that ran deep, and a faith that moved her to act. When she saw a need, she stepped into it. In the early days of For Every Orphan, Micala traveled to serve families firsthand. On one trip, she helped build an outhouse for a family in need - something simple, yet life-changing. That act helped ensure their children could remain safely at home, rather than being separated from their family.
Micala understood something powerful:
Sometimes, the difference between a child staying with their family or entering an orphanage is not a lack of love, but a lack of resources.

Miles of Smiles
Going the Distance for Children

Miles of Smiles is both literal and symbolic—a movement of people choosing to go the distance for children and families.
Each year, individuals, families, and networks of friends from around the globe commit to run, walk, swim, or cycle as a way to reflect, remember, and respond. Together, we move in support of protecting children, and the families fighting to stay together.
It’s a simple idea with a powerful purpose: raising awareness, mobilizing communities, and creating tangible support for families in need.
There’s no cost to join and no obligation to give. You can simply participate during the annual event and help raise awareness for orphaned and vulnerable children.
The Micala Scholarship Fund for Families

At the heart of Miles of Smiles is the Micala Scholarship Fund for Families, created to support vulnerable families at risk of separation. Any gifts given during Miles of Smiles will go directly to this fund.
Through this fund, we come alongside families facing poverty, crisis, or hardship by providing:
Essential home improvements that create safe living conditions
Livelihood support and small business funding
Access to education and school fees
Basic needs like food, clothing, and hygiene
These are often the very things that make the difference between a family staying together or being torn apart.

Small Acts for Lasting Impact.
What Micala demonstrated so clearly is that small acts of love can change the trajectory of a child’s life.
An outhouse
A repaired home.
A way to provide for a family.
These are more than just projects, they’re a pathway to keeping children where they belong: in the care of their family.
