For Every Orphan is blessed to have some incredible partners. One of them, You Too, is a Ukrainian NGO that Slava Bondar—pastor, husband and father of four sons—has spent 10 years building. It supports vulnerable families, orphans and traumatized children through practical care, parenting groups, trauma-informed programs and a day center.
Last year Slava joined the Ukrainian army. The ministry he built continues in the hands of his wife Olena, who leads the team. Right now their most urgent need is keeping the day center running.
In a small village in the Kharkiv region—87% of whose schools operate fully online due to the war—there is a place that opens its doors three times a week for children who have nowhere else to go. This center, run by Olena and the You Too team, serves 50 children between the ages of 4 and 14. These children are orphans, children from families in crisis, children with special needs and children who have lost a parent to war. Some are formally enrolled in fifth grade but function at a second-grade level. Some have never held a paintbrush. Some barely speak. All of them need what most of us take for granted—a safe adult, a consistent routine and someone who sees them.
According to the You Too team,"These children do not need a motivational push. They need a long process of restoration."
The center is a long-term developmental space built on trust, repetition and relationship. Children are grouped not by age but by developmental readiness. Each child has an individual progress map; each small step forward is noticed and recorded. This is what changes life trajectories!
Please join us in praying for:
• Slava—for his safety, his service on the frontline, and the peace that only God can give in the midst of war
• Olena and her team—for strength, wisdom and resilience
• Each child walking through the center's doors—to feel safe and seen
• The families behind them—to find hope and partnership, not judgement
• The funding needed to keep this work going; funding covers facilitators, a psychologist, session materials and the space itself
Thank you for standing with You Too and other entities like it that are doing their best to meet the needs of vulnerable children struggling to survive the ravages of war.
